Snapdeal Integrates FreeCharge Bill Payments on Its Android, iOS Apps

Snapdeal Integrates FreeCharge Bill Payments on Its Android, iOS Apps
Snapdeal has integrated FreeCharge's mobile recharging, utility bill, and DTH payments into its Android and iOS apps.
The new feature provides users a single-click view for recharge plans and recharge history for repeat users, to provide a frictionless shopping experience, the company said. Other highlights include the ability for repeat users to look up recharge history, and view a concise summary of recharge plans.
The integration also displays information on the best available cash back offers on recharges and bill payments on the app home screen, and integrates with the phone address book to recharge numbers of family and friends.
"Bill payments are tasks that we all need to do but don't enjoy or want to explicitly plan for. By integrating utility bill payments, prepaid and DTH account recharges, we are making this a "one-tap" process to deliver a frictionless marketplace experience," said Manav Kamboj, Vice President of Engineering, Snapdeal in an emailed statement. "It's like going to your favourite bazaar to shop and stop by for a moment to pay a mobile bill. Simple," he said.
In a bid to drive digital payments, the Cabinet recently removed surcharge and service charge on card and digital payments.
Govind Rajan, Chief Operating Officer, FreeCharge, said that India is amongst the most cash intensive cash economies in the world. "Going digital will not only save the country crores of rupees, it will also provide consumers and merchants a more secure and frictionless way of transacting," he said.
A week ago, FreeCharge had stated that it is currently recording one million transactions a day, and plans to hit seven million transactions a day by the end of 2016.
